We were at the Garden, standing on Mike's side when my buddy turns to me and says, "I can't believe they're playing this!!"
It's been over 10 years since he's seen them and he forgot that they change up the setlist every night. He's forgetting a lot now.
The ground is shaking beneath us. We're only four songs in. He turns to me and asks if this is normal? Are we safe? I didn't care, and really, neither did he. We rocked out for nearly 3 hours, listening to one of the greatest bands of all time.
It's been a while since my buddy has been out this long, so as Rockin comes to an end we head out. Just above the exit, I notice 2 guys dancing with Casey. He has EB. I saw a picture of him, earlier, with Ed and Mike. 'That's awesome!', I thought. Indifference played in the background as we left MSG.
A little over two months later, I left my buddy's funeral. The Brain Cancer had taken over. I was fortunate enough to have the bootleg of MSG 1. I got in my car and turned it on. The memories of that night came rushing back. The ground shaking at Given to Fly, the arms of the choir raised during Evolution, and the amazing sing along of S. Town inspired me. Sometimes the saddest days in life lead to a light coming through the clouds in rays.
My buddy and I talked about starting different businesses. While driving home I was energized. I had always talked a big game. This loss had made me realize that I had wasted so much of my life. I had never followed through on anything. But this new energy was different. I wasn't gonna let the sad song play.
LifeWasteed is inspired by that night at the Garden. By the amazing fans, the incredible setlist, by Casey above us, and by my buddy, Matt, who's always with us.
We provide designs that remind us of nights like the one I had on May 1. Tshirts and apparel that capture these moments with the band and all our friends around us. We have one life to live. Let's not waste it.
We'll do what we can to provide the best designs, the best products, and the best service to the Jamily.
Keep on Rockin' and Live the Wave!
*LIFEWASTEED is in no way affiliated with the band. We're just fans like the rest of you.
